As part of the 2021 OPA CPD Series, the Student Committee and the Education Committee along with TriOS College (Kitchener campus) present a remote live-streamed Zoom CPD:
The Ontario Paralegal Association in conjunction with triOS College is hosting its first-ever live Zoom CPD for students!
An event to inform/educate students and licensees about their conduct and best practices in court with criminal matters. The event focuses also on all aspects of our justice system from the bench, crown, defense counsel, and civil law. Other aspects of criminal law will be touched such as submissions/exhibits, guilty pleas, negotiation with the crown, objections, and time.

Edward W. (Ted) Claxton was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1979. His practice experience includes civil, criminal, matrimonial, and estate litigation. He has represented clients in the Ontario Court of Appeal on both criminal and civil appeals. He joined triOS faculty in February of 2012. He has pervious experience teaching Law Clerks courses at Conestoga College and as a speaker for the Business and the Arts course at Sheridan College. A former Student Editor of the Ottawa Law Review, he has also acted as Compiling Editor for Carswell Legal Publications’, Canadian Encyclopedia Digest – Ontario Court Practice Volume and has published articles in the Osgoode Hall Law Journal and Chitty’s Law Journal. Ted is a member of The Law Society of Upper Canada and the Waterloo Law Association. He is active in leadership roles with Scouts Canada in the North Waterloo Area.
